1st February – Miyako Quartet

Brand new quartet from Sheffield with a two-horn front-line and some edgy arrangements alongside great originals.

15th February – GoGo Penguin

Chris Illingworth leads this fantastic piano trio that sound nothing like you’d expect. Playing tunes from their forthcoming debut album.

1st March – Gypsies of Bohemia

Acoustic jazz quartet (3 guitars + bass) specialising in the jazz manouche style pioneered by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli of the Hot Club de France in 1930-40′s – their take on Britney Spears is nothing short of inspired…

15th March – Gambol

Birmingham based quintet led by Chris Mapp on bass.  Some fantastic original playing sets against some thought-provoking compositions.

5th April – Stuart McCallum

Amazing Mancunian guitarist best known for his work with the Cinematic Orchestra performs a rare solo set, as well as a brand new duo with drummer Dave Walsh.

19th April – The Moss Project

Led by guitarist Moss Freed and featuring Acoustic Ladyland’s Ruth Goller on bass and drummer Josh Blackmore of Curios and Troyka – expect music that’s Metheny, Radiohead and Stravinsky in equal measures.

3rd May – Halsall+Singh

Brand new duo consisting of trumpeter, composer, arranger, DJ, producer and bandleader Matthew Halsall and vocal sound sculptorist/human beatboxer, DJ and percussionist Jason Singh. Music inspired by Gilles Peterson, Mr Scruff, Madlib and Flying Lotus.

17th May – Claire James Trio

Debut performance at Sandbar from this interesting, lyrical piano-led trio.  Expect original compositions (as always) alongside interesting covers from the likes of Nick Drake and more.

7th June – (bink!)

Formed by Birmingham-based Richard Foote, this is a new, vibrant young band featuring the exciting combination of a trombone and alto saxophone frontline. Each musician brings individual influences and a unique approach to improvi-sation, resulting in an eclectic and distinctive sound. www.myspace.com/binkuk

21st June – Adam Fairhall trio

Ahead of his exciting new commission at this year’s Manchester Jazz Festival, hear Adam and his trio in a more intimate setting.  Check him out here.

5th July – Freedom Principle Quintet

Last gig of the season, featuring brand new compositions from members of HAQ and Beats & Piece Big Band, alongside tunes composed by YOU.
