Freedom Principle – Christian Fields Trio

March 20, 2012
20:30to23:30

Before our Easter break we’re pleased to present pianist Christian Fields with his trio. Christian was featured in Manchester Jazz Festival’s introducing programming strand last year with his octet, and this trio draws on influences including Thelonius Monk and The Bad Plus to cook up quirky grooves as well as tuneful ballads.

Freedom Principle – Adam Fairhall Trio

March 6, 2012
20:30to23:30

You may have caught Adam performing his Imaginary Delta commission at Manchester Jazz Festival last year, or in the bands of Matt Halsall and Nat Birchall amongst others. Tonight he presents his own trio with material playing on the ‘traditions’ of the jazz piano trio – sometimes revelling in the most orthodox way of swinging, sometimes playing free, but always with an unexpected ingredient in the mix…

Adam Fairhall – piano
Tim Fairhall – bass
Gaz Hughes – drums
