Chris Ackerley (who writes for Jazzwise from time to time) has set up a great new blog on all things Mancunian and/or jazzy. Well worth taking the time to check it out, bookmark it, and tell all your friends about it.
Now.

New regular night run by “Metro Jazz” – a collective of Liverpool musicians, and getting a good buzz going already. It’ll be our first outing outside of Manchester, so we’re going to play extra-specially well for it.

First trip over the Pennines for the big band. Playing in the Lescar pub on Sharrowvale Road, Hunters Bar, S11 8ZF. £3 to get in, possibly a bit less if you’re a student, can’t argue with those prices!
Expect some new material from Ben, including a new Radiohead arrangement. We’re really looking forward to it, the Lescar’s a great place to play and hear music.

…is the name of a play in this year’s 24:7 Theatre Festival by Sean Gregson for which I’ve written the music.
It’s had some good reviews so far including this one: “original music by Anton Hunter serves to enhance the atmosphere…is definitely to be applauded.”
Anton Hunter – guitar
Graham South – trumpet
Johnny Hunter – drums
Gavin Barras – bass
